ABOUT
Who I am
I'm a 40 something Energy professional/husband/triathlete. I started out in Environmental Management and the world of ISO14001 accreditation. Following success in that role both in a full time capacity and as a consultant I secured my first Energy Management position with Scarborough Borough Council.

I had 6 great years at Scarborough and will be forever grateful for what I learned during my time there. In 2016 I became Energy Manager at Norwich BioScience Research Institute (NBI) working on a 2yr fixed term contract. I worked with some great people at NBI and enjoyed the challenge of applying Energy management to a scientific environment.

When my time at BNI came to an end I decided I would set up Carter Energy Consultancy. Just as I was setting up Carter Energy Consultancy I was offered an Energy Management position at The University of East Anglia.
​
Some here I am working full time at the University of East Anglia a job I absolutely love, whilst driving Carter Energy Consultancy in my own time.
Why I do this

For me this is all about engaging with others. Sharing experiences and lessons learned, along with some funny stories perhaps. I will ask questions along the way and hopefully prompt discussion or at least enable others to share their own experiences.

What I can do for you
Carter Energy Consultancy helps clients understand and reduce their energy consumption. As Company Director it is my responsibility to communicate our USP to our clients.
Our USP is "We find the Energy consumption you didn't know you were consuming"
We do this through energy monitoring software and detailed analysis. Our clients tend to fall into two main categories (A) Clients who are concerned by their high energy invoices and seek our help reducing their energy consumption. And, (B) Clients within the horticultural Science field who are seeking energy monitoring and verification of their scientific experiments.
We have a passion for improved energy performance. Our strength is our Energy auditing techniques and finding innovative solutions for energy saving technology. For us the way forward is through developing strong relationships. We have a proven track record of delivering energy saving strategies.
In 2018, due to our work in Energy verification, we were credited as a co-author on two scientific papers. We are tremendously proud of this achievement.
In summary, we specialise in identifying where and how energy is being consumed. We undertake an analysis of the operation in question before making detailed energy saving recommendations.
